About 47
Pakistani fine dining on Leicester Road, Wigston. Opened in 2025, cooked over charcoal ever since.
Our Story
47 Restaurant opened in Wigston, Leicester in 2025, bringing authentic Pakistani cooking to Leicester Road. We were founded on a simple idea: the charcoal grills, slow-cooked karahi, and fragrant biryani of Lahore, Karachi, and Peshawar deserve a home in this city that does them justice.
Our name is our address. Our kitchen cooks to order: karahi in cast iron over high heat, nihari simmered overnight, and HMC-certified meat grilled over real charcoal.
Where Heritage Meets Innovation
Rooted in Pakistani tradition, at home in Leicester. We cook the way it has always been done, with charcoal grills, cast-iron karahi, and spices balanced by hand, and we present it in a setting that reflects the care that goes into every plate.
"Food is the most sincere form of hospitality."
The kitchen behind the food
Our kitchen cooks the karahi the way the style was refined in Pakistan: cast iron, high heat, tomato, ginger, garlic, and black pepper, finished at the table and served in the pan it was cooked in.
That discipline shapes everything on our menu. The charcoal grill, the overnight simmer of the nihari, the layering in the biryani, the HMC-certified meat: these are not approximations of Pakistani food. They are the real thing, brought to Wigston.
The three things guests ask about most.
And the honest answers.
Cooked the Original Way
The karahi is cooked to order in cast iron, the way the style was refined in Pakistan. The charcoal technique, the black pepper finish, the cast-iron serve: these are not adaptations. They are the original.
HMC-Certified Halal
Our meat is sourced from an HMC-certified butcher. The Halal Monitoring Committee operates one of the UK's most rigorous certification standards, monitoring the full supply chain from slaughter to delivery.
Built for This Community
We opened in Wigston in 2025 to serve the Pakistani and South Asian community of Leicester, and anyone who wants to eat the way families in Lahore, Karachi, and Peshawar have eaten for generations.
Halal you can trust
Our meat is sourced from a butcher certified by the Halal Monitoring Committee (HMC). If you are not familiar with HMC, it is worth knowing: it operates one of the most rigorous halal certification programmes in the United Kingdom, with on-site monitoring throughout the supply chain rather than periodic audits alone.
For many of our guests, particularly families who are careful about where their halal certification comes from, HMC certification is the standard they look for. We chose our supplier specifically because of it.
You do not have to take our word for it either. 47 Restaurant appears in HMC's own directory of certified outlets, with monthly spot checks by HMC inspectors. You can view our listing on the HMC website.
If you have questions about our halal sourcing or kitchen practices, our team is happy to discuss them when you visit or call ahead.

Part of your community
We opened on Leicester Road, Wigston in 2025 because this community deserved a Pakistani restaurant that took the food seriously. Not a takeaway. Not a compromise. A dining room where you can bring your family for Eid, book the function room for a birthday, or sit down on a Friday evening with a karahi and take your time.
From halwa puri at the weekend to charsi karahi in the evening, we honour the rituals that bring people together. The Pakistani and South Asian community of Leicester has fed and shaped this city for decades. 47 is our way of giving something back to that table.
